Static Scan vs Browser-rendered Fallback
Most sites are read with a fast static scan that inspects the page HTML and can cover accessibility and dimension checks. Some sites block automated crawlers; for those we use a browser-rendered fallback on the submitted page. In that mode, image transfer and format checks are available. Accessibility and rendered-dimension checks may be limited.
Transparent scoring
The score is rules-based: every point maps to a specific finding over the images we actually inspected — not a one-off page-speed number that swings on each run. The report shows exactly where points were lost. Because it reflects what the page serves right now, results can change when the page itself changes.

Why website image optimization matters
Images are usually the heaviest thing on a page. Oversized and legacy-format images slow down loading, hurt Core Web Vitals and cost mobile visitors data — which affects conversions and search rankings. Right-sizing and modern formats often cut image weight by half or more.
Limitations & privacy
We only read the public URL you submit. For blocked sites, that URL may be sent to Google PageSpeed Insights to render the page. Report thumbnails load directly from the source site — we strip the referrer, but a direct image request can still expose your IP to that site's image host. Shareable report links are unlisted, are not indexed, and expire after 7 days; you can delete a report at any time. CAPTCHA-protected pages that cannot be rendered return an honest “couldn't read this site” result rather than a fake score.

What does the auditor check?
Image transfer size (heavy downloads), oversized dimensions and legacy formats (JPEG/PNG that could be WebP/AVIF). When the page's HTML is readable it also flags missing alt text and missing width/height.
How is the score calculated?
The score is rules-based: every deduction maps to a specific finding across the images inspected. Results may change when the page content or delivered assets change.
Can it scan any website?
Most sites are read with a fast static scan. Some sites block automated crawlers (e.g. a Cloudflare challenge); for those we use a browser-rendered fallback on the submitted page, where image transfer and format checks are available but accessibility and rendered-dimension checks may be limited.
Is my data private?
We only read the public URL you submit, and shareable report links are unlisted, are not indexed by search engines, and expire after 7 days. You can delete a report at any time.
Does the auditor scan the whole website or one page?
The free public scan checks one public webpage — the exact URL you submit. Multi-page crawls across a whole site are available signed in from your BatchSet dashboard.
Why are alt-text checks unavailable on some websites?
Alt text and rendered dimensions are read from the page's HTML/DOM. When a site blocks automated crawlers we fall back to a browser-rendered image list, which exposes transfer size and format but not the DOM — so those two checks are marked unavailable rather than passed.
Does this tool measure Core Web Vitals?
No. It is an image-specific audit — transfer size, dimensions and format — not a full Core Web Vitals or Lighthouse run. Fixing flagged images can improve LCP or CLS when those particular images contribute to the affected metric, but this report is not a Core Web Vitals measurement.
Does it check WebP and AVIF images?
Yes. Images already delivered as WebP or AVIF are recognized as modern formats and are not flagged as legacy — we measure what a real browser is actually served, so an already-optimized page scores honestly high.
