Quick answer
BatchSet's GIF optimizer makes an animated GIF smaller without changing a single pixel, free and entirely in the browser with gifsicle compiled to WebAssembly, so nothing is uploaded and no account is needed. It runs gifsicle's -O3 pass only, with no lossy setting and no palette cut: the GIF is re-packed so that each frame stores just what differs from the one before it, and unused data is dropped. Every frame, its timing, the loop and all the original colours are kept, which is why the result is pixel for pixel the same animation. A GIF that is already packed tightly is handed back untouched rather than returned larger, and going smaller than this means giving up quality, which is what the GIF compressor and the Reduce GIF Size pages are for. Many GIFs can be optimized at once with a ZIP download.
Three quick steps — free, private, right in your browser.
Drop one or many .gif files, or click to pick them. Each card shows the size, frames and loop length.
There is nothing to set. The GIF is re-packed in your browser with no quality loss.
Check how much came off, then save them one by one or as a ZIP.
It re-packs the file without touching the picture. gifsicle works out what each frame shares with the one before it and stores only the difference, then drops data the file does not need. The animation that comes out is pixel for pixel the one that went in.
No. This page runs the lossless pass only: no lossy setting, no smaller palette, no resizing. Every frame, its timing, the loop and all the original colours are kept. That is the whole point of it, and it is also why the saving has a ceiling.
It depends entirely on how the GIF was written. One saved frame by frame, for example exported from a video or built by a script, often loses a lot of weight because the frames repeat so much. A GIF that has already been through an optimizer may not shrink at all.
It was already packed as tightly as a lossless pass can manage. You get the original back rather than a bigger file. To go further you have to give up some quality: the GIF compressor lets you choose how much, and Reduce GIF Size works backwards from a size you name.
Yes, free with no account, and nothing is uploaded. gifsicle is compiled to WebAssembly and runs in your browser, so the GIFs never leave your device.
Optimizing changes how the GIF is stored. Compressing changes the picture: it lets the encoder shift pixels slightly or cut the palette so the file packs smaller. Start here, since it costs nothing, and reach for the GIF compressor only if you still need more.
There's no fixed limit. Batches of several hundred are common and run in parallel across your CPU cores, so even large batches finish in seconds. It's completely free with no signup.
